Help looking for a Golf message board

I know this is in the wrong section but I am looking to buy a new set of clubs within the next few weeks. Does anyone know of a message board that compares equipment/clubs by real people and that leave feedback from their experiance of the clubs. I have found many forums that give alot of technical mumbo jumbo., But nothing that has opinions of every day golfers and what there expierece was when hitting the clubs. It is kind of anoying when a pro gives there oppinions on what clubs are good. They usualy have a very biased oppinion and they are usualy scratch golfer which I am not.

  • I just bought a new set of Mizuno MX-25 irons, MP 600 driver, and F-60 fairway woods early this summer and I love them. The irons are easy to hit and forgiving, the driver has adjustable weights that takes about 20 seconds to switch and a huge sweet spot, and the fairway woods are easy to hit as well.

The best thing to do is to find a course or shop that is having a demo day and try out as many clubs as you can. Hope this helps.

  • I just started back playing about 5 months ago and bought a cheap set from Academy Sports for a grand total of less than $200. That included the bag, set of 15 clubs, tees and bag of balls. My friend that I play golf with on a regular basis, spent over $3000 for his clubs. His clubs do not hit the ball any further or straighter than my cheap clubs.

The best way to go about buying clubs in my opinion is going to get custom fitted for yourself. Many stores offer free fitting. You can try as many different clubs as you like. After you make your choice on a brand of clubs they will fit you on your swing. Many factors such as swing speed for type of shaft, loft and lie for your club heads. You can even choose your own grips. I highly recommend this. I promise it will improve your game a few strokes if you club specs are working with your swing, instead of against. Ping in my opinion also has the best club fitting choices.

The best club is a right foot to get the ball out of the woods.

Callaway golf has a pre-owned store that I've heard nothing but good things about. Just google it. But most large golf retail stores these days have used sets that you can "try before you buy." Do you have a Ruger Dunn Golf Shop near you? They have great deals on used sets.
  • I suggest going to a range that has demos and hitting as many different models as you can. Get a feel for how the different clubs feel to you and fit your swing. Then go back the next day and do it again. Going to a range will also allow you to "see" the flight of the ball versus hitting into a net in a store. Once you have narrowed it down and made your selection, absolutely get them custom fit for you. Good luck and hit em straight.
