eBay sucks....

Just wanted to get that out there. I know some of us jumped on people for complaining about ebay on the boards, but they change about 2-3 things a day and they all suck for card guys. There will always be a lot of cards on ebay, but the comming changes could mean a rise in the all mighty card show. Anyways ebay is horrible and they are making me hate them.

we dont have any card shows around here anymore either, used to have them at the mall 2-3 times ayear and other places, that would be cool if they would start back, and the card shops, not a one here anymore except walmart image

Once the dust settles it will be business as usual, I do not see sellers leaving ebay en masse.

Whatever hoops they make us go through it still is easier then lugging wares to a show.

I been there and done that.

I have also had a storefront and all that it entails.....overhead

    A web site needs traffic.

I would think they would have complained more about the expenses to get to the show.

Luckily for me the shows i did were local.

excuses are the nails that built the house of failure my friend.

    jk,

e-bay is currently using its mega wallets to bail out AIG,
so please excuse any temporary glitches in the matrix.

I worked in a card shop while going to school a long time ago, and one of the owners did card shows as well.

Seeing his (cardboard) lifestyle made me study extra hard. I always packed up his truck on Thursdays, so he would have enough time to drive out to (BFE) for the 3 day weekend show. The time spent driving, cheap motels, sitting for 36 hours over 3 days, and the complaints on Monday ... no thanks to setting up at shows.

I always liked the local shows, but the selection is very poor. Its always the same guys, with the same junk. Card shows will never even come close to ebay, although they can be a fun thing to DRAG THE WIFE & KIDS to, on weekends for an hour :-)

I love the concept of Ebay, but I hate the people that run it. I know another competitive site will NOT come along, and I fear things will only get worse at Fleeing-Away-From-The-Bay. I know I wont be listing again, under all these policies.

    Oh well

and yes, "I'm Sorry this happened to me"

I have never loved Ebay, but I have always felt it was a great place to sell items and it's still priced well for the amount of traffic they have. That being said, I agree with the statements I have read lately. Ebay is making too many changes and is going in the wrong direction.
My wife has had some bad experiences lately. She has had good luck selling Coach and other high end purses she buys on special at our local outlet stores and sells them on ebay. Well, ebay has pulled her recent listings saying they fall under counterfeit items. I replied to ebay and told them we are even offering original receipts and certs from the companies and ebay would not let us list them nor give us back our listing fees. In their reply letters they also said they couldn't explain why because its an ongoing problem.

    Nice job ebay!

I bet Google comes up with an ebay type of place and it would solve the problem of ebay not offering Google Checkout.

  • I would also like to thank chaz for not changing his avatar. Now, he is the only one I can recognize without doing some research.
  • I left selling on ebay since it began changes this year. (with a 100% feedback rating)

I still buy occasionally - but way less than before.

I prefer to trade. I like going to card shows - yet as long as the greed of the hobby prevails, ebay will flourish.

Since I'm not into cards for investment I get to enjoy the spoils of a poor market.

My wish is for poor sales of newer cards to cut down the amount of junk being produced. (count how many cards you have that you will never sell ?)

I would love to see smaller and fewer sets so there are not 25 rookie cards of every player !

    cheers

Amen to that! Especially basketball. It's been way out of hand for several years now.

I used to do shows. Loved going, hated working. I always loved looking for that special card that was so underpriced you couldnt help but buy it.

Shows had the same percentage of idiots in them though as ebay does, Only difference is back then you had to listen to their crap for 5 minutes, now they just neg you. An equitable swap in my opinion.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

Your welcome. Eventhough Jordan cost me 10's of thousands of dollars and I am not kidding ( BGS 9.5's and PSA 10's), I will always have the avatar there. I just think he was the best. chaz
