Our State coin show is on the game day in Lincoln, NE next weekend

Our State Coin Show is next weekend, September 27-28 in Lincoln when Nebraska plays Virginia Tech. image I hope it works out. Good thing it's a night game or I wonder if anyone would come? image I wonder if the dealers had trouble getting a hotel room? image

Most participating dealers probably live close enough to make it a "day trip" each day.

I know which one I would plan on attending! image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

To top it off, this weekend is a "bye" weekend. Why wasn't the show scheduled on a "bye" weekend? Even if the orgnaizers aren't football fans to schedule a show on a game day in Nebraska just doesn't make sense. But that's just me. image

During football season, football happens every weekend over a 3 - 4 month period whereas coin shows do not. Yes there are coin shows every weekend but not within the reach of most collectors and none of them are televised.

In a football crazed small town though it's not a good strategy to try to compete with Nebraska at home vs a non conference opponent like VA Tech. Towns like Lincoln, Norman, OK and College Station, TX shut down on gameday and even more so during home games. Atendance would probably be much better on a bye week

  • I am always amazed when people schedule events (coin shows, weddings, whatever) on Saturdays during football season in Baton Rouge. Some of the biggest fights of my 15 year marriage have been caused by so-called family, friends, and other bozos who can't check a football schedule posted 10 years in advance.

I mean come on- this is Baton Rouge! image
