My first 8.5 - my 63F set is almost at 75%!

My main motive for buying the .5 bump was the centering - I've searched for a few years for a decent centered Roger Craig and this one is very nice.

It goes back to my topic on centering - I like all my cards but with this set - I became a center freak!

Should be done with this set by 2010! image

Hi Mike, yep that sure is a nice centered card. I have always been a centered freak as opposed to a corners guy.

    Even back in the 80's.

    Good for you.

I agree with that and also registration, a clear picture, is important to me, especially centering on 52 Topps and 62 Topps which I happen to always be working on and upgrading - I'll take a nicely centered, perfectly registered 6, over a poorly centered, out of register 7 or even 8 any day of the week.

I feel the same way now about centering as you all, and am appreciative it was brought to my attention these past few years.
  • Any reason that card wouldn't be a 9? I can't see anything on the scan.

I've been looking for the flaw for 10 minutes, it has to be a print mark next to the pitcher's head in the yellow area. Lots nicer than a few 9s running around!

  • Congrats Mike, the centering on this issue definitely makes the difference....its all about the eye appeal....

how long before you make it to 100%

Truly great card. If that card is an indicator your set is very high end.

looks loke there are some faint print lines.. just a guess on the 8 call...

Thanx for the kind words guys.

Lee - the upper left has a very slight fuzz to the corner that can only be seen under 10X.

Fanman - at the rate I'm going, it'll probably take another year or two to complete.

Jason - when I started the set, I was very happy with 60/40 centering - then something hit me and I no longer feel that way.

Here's the last 3 before the Craig:

Getting all centered cards - meaning close to 45/55 or 50/50 is a daunting task and price will factor - I've kept this set reasonable - in some cases I may have to give in a bit if I want that kind of centering.

In the meantime, a nice 60/40 is nothing to be ashamed of - that's fer sure.

  • Great cards Mike, this level of prestige is something I can't even imagine.

    Good luck Trent.

There's nothing wrong with being stuck in the 70s - the only reason I don't do more sets is the cost.

Plus - someone here has to collect weird things like whiskey decanters, board games and lobby cards.

What set do you have in mind?
