1961 Topps Set

Hi,
I just bought an almost complete 1961 Topps Set. There are 18 cards missing and the Yaz card along with a couple of All Star cards are the only star cards missing. 132 of the cards are already graded with 82 at PSA 7 or better and 39 at 8 or better. The Mantle is a 5. The ungraded cards follow the graded ones in condition and are mostly NRMINT+. What is my play now? Should I break the set up or should I complete the set and then sell? Thoughts? Thanks.

  • All depends on why you bought it.

If you bought it strictly for profit, break it up and sell the cards individually. My opinion, I'm no expert.

I really bought it because I thought it was a good buy and I'm just getting back into collecting. I also bought a couple of high end Mantle's ('60 and '67) and plan on getting them graded along with some other vintage cards I've got in great condition.

If it was a good buy and you plan on keeping it for collecting purposes, then add to it and enjoy. If your intent is to sell, you may as well not add to it since breaking up and selling in chunks will prob give you a better price anyway.
