NewP- 1835 LM-5.1 Half Dime

I just got this off the BST from CaptainRon, who also shot the images, which are far better than I could ever do. In hand it's got a little more color (some reds especially) than the photos show. I see it as an LM-5.1, R-3 which I needed for my set. I am so happy with the coin that I had to show it off here.

<< <i>beautiful coin, in the top five or thereabouts for the die remarriage on the latest JRCS census! >>
It's funny that you said that- I had just looked that up! I am thinking of having that copy of the John Reich Journal surgically attached to my Logan/McCloskey book, because I keep misplacing it and having to look for it.

Congrats
<< <i>To fully appreciate the beautiful 1835 LM-5.1 half dime that you recently purchased, be sure to read the article "A MS-62 1835 LM-5.1 Half Dime" in the John Reich Journal V14/I1, pg. 9. Great coin. Congrats! >>
Jack, I don't think you have that issue...I will send a copy to you when I send you a coin soon
I purchesed it at the November 2006 Michigan show in/near Dearborne. I bought two that day. One of them from Jade Rare Coins, and the other
from a gentleman that use to share a table with Dick Osborne from time to time. I believe he was a retired dentist, and I have been trying to remember
this guys name since the day after that show. (The guy was great to work with, and would love to reach him again.)
Anyways after much thought, I'm leaning towards, that the coin was bought from Jade Rare Coins that day. I remember that Madmarty was at the table as well,
probably flirting with Tassa. I had all ready made my mind up that I was going to purchase the coin as I handed it to Marty so he could take a look at it. By the time
he had handed it back, I believe that it was allready paid for, and I was in happy pursuit again.
During this show Jade had a lot of coins from the Jules Reiver collection. This coin is not listed as such on the label, however I believe most of the coins from the
Jules Reiver collection were certified by NGC or NCS prior to auction. I got rid of my Jules Reiver Auction Cat. prior to the purchase of this coin, and never had an
oppurtunity to check if it was actually part of this sale or not.
Jack if it turns out to be, that may make it even more special for you, and a pleasant surprise. Perhaps Barndog, Mr. Halfdime, or Clad can verify this for you.
The colors of the coin, depending on the light source, resemble the shots Jack provided, However with a brighter light source the reds are more dominant.
Knowing that it was going to home that would fully appreciate her, made it that much less difficult to part with. Being just a date collector, I reluctantly purge out
duplicate dates. Now let's see if we can hook you up with one or two more of her sisters
Regards
Ron

Reiver's half dimes on 28 Jan 2006 included an 1835 LM-5.2, but not an 1835 LM-5.1

He's the only half dime geek dentist that occasionally shares tables with Dick that I know of
