Lovely design Minted between 1881-1896 (10 years) Based upon a few year mintages .... ( notably = 1881-37,000, 1882-252,000, 1896-197,000) it may be very challenging to collect a set, particuliarly in MS grades.
<< <i>It's as if they omitted most Argentinian gold coins. >>
Wouldn't surprise me at all.
I've been really disgusted with them lately. I can remember the days when the Krause catalogs were trustworthy enough that when you found an unlisted coin, it might actually be scarce or rare. Nowadays, I run about one or two percent unlisted. I don't even blink and just assume it's another Krause omission or error, and sure enough, when I crosscheck against worldcoingallery.com, there's the coin.
The change they made a few years ago was most definitely for the worse. I remember people howling over it and not seeing what all the fuss was about. Now I do.

Completely off topic, but speaking of nice designs, I like Joe's "battleship" avatar.
I don't see much listed for Argentina in the 5th edition Krause book. It's as if they omitted most Argentinian gold coins.
