Hi, My name is Brian and I am an Ohio State Fan

While watching USC crush the Buckeyes last night a familiar thought crept into my head...Maybe it's true what the SEC and PAC 10 guys say: "Ohio State, and the Big 10 as a whole, are overated-they can not compete head to head against the Big Boy conferences." For years, I've known this to be the truth (even the BCS Championship win over Miaimi seemed like a gift) but I have continued to live in a state of self denial. No more I tell you-I have come to terms with this realiaty and am ready to accept things they way they are....
I will continue to support my beloved Buckeyes but now with a different perspective and a much healthier respect for the the real BCS contenders (especially USC).

I wonder if there is any room on the Georgia bandwagon image

    Not soooo fast.

USC is the better team with or without Welles, however, OSU is still a terrific team and the Big Ten is not as bad as everyone seems to think. It seems that even though Michigan is likely going to have a nightmare season, the rest of the conference still could surprise folks. Penn State looks better than people expected. Purdue gave Oregon a good game. Wisconsin beat a very good Fresno State team. Don't give up on the Big Ten just yet just because it is highly probable that OSU will not make it to the title game and they may not even be the best team in the conference. Lets have this discussion again after the bowl season.

Hi, My name is also Brian and I was hoping Ohio State would have given USC a game. I think it's stupid having a game like USC vs Ohio St so early in the season especially with no playoff system. Hang in the Brian, your team did much better than my UCLA Bruins did last night at BYU. You guys didn't lose 59 to NOTHING.
  • Michigan State is not bad. They played a decent game against Florida Atlantic (yeah, I know "who?") image in terrible weather conditions yesterday and won 17-0. Javon Ringer rushed for 282 yards. Next weekends game with ND should be interesting.

I should have mentioned Michigan State as a possible surprise team.

No, I live up in Canton, OH, but I love that pic... image I've driven past in several times.
  • Well Brian.........take a good look and see what all these disappointments have in common. It's always your Ohio State team losing correct? Who are they always losing to? They are always losing to the #1 ranked team in the nation. Where are they losing? They are losing in the National Championship games and now in the home stadium of the #1 ranked team that is by far the best team in the nation right now.

What the media always seems to look past is that Ohio State is making it to these games. They are always the common factor. You want to see the skewed views of the media, just watch when the rankings come out. Georgia gets a gift fumble and barely gets past and unranked South Carolina, but they won't drop more than one spot. Ohio State gets beat on the road, without their best player and by the #1 ranked team yet they'll drop like a rock in the rankings.

I've also noticed something while watching different games. I think the networks let more crowd noise feed in to their broadcast during SEC games, to make it appear that there's more excitement. Take note of that next time you're watching.

Well, if noise is a factor, the Big Ten still does well... ever seen a game at Kamp Randall Field?
