81 topps cut card case

i pulled the trigger on an 81 topps baseball cut card case (sheet C). does anyone have the information for what cards are on sheet C (reggie is one)? i know the sheet number is on the back of the card but i was hoping someone may have this information already compiled.

    I've had my eye on a few different Cut Cases, but never pulled the trigger myself. I'm very interested to see how this turns out for you. Please keep us posted.

    yes, the case was from dave and adams. i had forgotten about the carew being in this lot.

    i was hoping to locate a list of all cards on this sheet.

    i've purchased only one cut case prior to this one. it was an 81t basketball mid-west.

    i pulled a decent reggie from a rack box and it's at psa now. looked like a solid 9, probably end up an 8, but one of the best centered i've seen.

    Congrats on the purchase, but I'm a little perplexed. Based upon the fact that there are two sheet cases from that set that are basically dogs, why would you purchase it without knowing who is on the sheet?

    I was looking at that case for one reason only --- to get the first PSA 10 Reggie (pop. zero). The other 131 cards are interesting, but nowhere near Reggie. Am sure David is thinking along those same lines.

    Rather than pitch $200+ trying to find a raw one in a haystack, why not grab a bunch of dead-nuts PSA 9's and crack and resubmit. I would think that would give one a better shot and be money better spent. But that's just one man's opinion.

    as bosox mentioned, it is a shot in the dark chance at 10 reggie.

    otw,
    i would like to find a slew of psa 9s. the problem is they very rarely pop up. the last 2 were in july and before that, it was april.

    81 topps & psa graders do not mix very well.....

    i've personally sunk/wasted/blew over $300 in the past on these things.

    Neither Fernando nor Raines are present among the 132 cards on sheet C.

    Hope you do well on the case. I as well have balked on the case for over 6 months. If all the reggies are are even 8 centered with a few slider 9s its an ok buy imo. Reggie is usually 7030 or 8020. Ive sold all my 9's in the past due too minimal tilts. I finally found my set card few months ago in a 8 holder with the 10 image which was the first ive seen centered 5050 as well with the smallest touch under the 20x so it could make it in a 9 holder but intentions are leave it in the 8 pile lol. PS if you do ever come across a list for the sheets lmk i'll pay for it. I have all my sheets up north so sorry i cant help.

    81's are not for sissies lol or at least 35% of the set and stay away from the vending. Common rule for a vending case is 75-110 lock 9's meaning cant be denied. Though thats not saying there different. Usually about 40 different cards. MINDBLOWING, However i did let one of my cherry vending cases go couple years back and the buyer turned up selling alot of 10's if they came from that case i dunno but i had the feeling it was not the norm.

    Ive always been curious about the condition of cards in cut cases. They don't look very securely packed. And are they even sealed??

    not from the 81 cut case, but from a rack box. unbelievable...1 - 10 out of this entire lot. i can't wait to compare the 10 against the others. the reggie was centered nicely but only yielded an 8 (expected grade).

    i received the cut card case yesterday. the cards in the front and rear are pretty much useless due to the packaging and handling.

    the middle rows and tiers look like fresh vending boxes with the pretty little pattern.

    i've removed them all from the shipping box and they now sit on my dining room table. i've went through maybe 500. as i was removing them from the box i noticed some cards from the "D" series (most notably a RAINES rookie). after skimming a few bricks, it looks as though i have a split box of series "C" and "D". ryan is also in the "D" series. image

    centering and miscuts are a plenty. i've pulled 3 jacksons and carews. they are OC. i'll try to post a few scans this weekened if time permits and if i get a chance to go through them. i'm sure i'll make some time for that... image

    i submitted a trial run of the cards. the raines were expected. very disappointed in the others. i don't know what the graders are looking for in the 81s. these cards are absolutely georgeous. oh well, the EOT guidry must have been too good to give a 10. maybe i should start submitting under the justcollect name. geez.

    i ended up with roughly 30+ of each card in each series. there were some i had over 70 (i.e. bob boone). the condition varied and was consistent throughout (if a nolan ryan was slightly oc, all of them were similar. likewise on a good cut). i have a few more guidry's i may submit. there are 0 10s (or were the last time i checked).

    as far as the reggie, they were all mostly oc or miscut. 4 of the reggies may yield an 8, but i don't think any would be higher.

    A while back, I opened a pristine 81T rack case. Got zero 10's. No doubt, it is a massive ROI Wasteland.

    Would love to see a scan or two. I am thinking of getting a 1984 case from D&A's. 60+ chances each at a few Mattingly, Ryan and Ripken PSA 10's. Sounds like a whole day of good times to me.

    I assume by this statement you are saying that if you get a run of well centered cards, the entire run will basically be well centered. Is that correct?

    yes, absolutely. there may be a couple of stragglers, but for the most part, they are all identical. so good luck on a mattingly or ryan.

    What a risk? $600 to get 60+ well centered Mattingly rookies with probably 50 that have a shot at a 10 or 60+ worthless OC Mattingly rookies that will sell as a lot on eBay for $100.

    exactly....i was looking for the reggie and none will yield a 10. however, if the guidry were to pull a 10 i could probably make my money back. i don't know how any of the 4 i sent in did not yield a 10. i will end up resubmitting the EOT guidry and a couple more in hopes of a 10.

    I have the same opinion on the 84 Mattingly. One PSA 10 out of 60+ would pay for the case. A few PSA 9's wouldbe profit. Not to mention that Nolan Ryan would be in the same case.

    Look inside the yankee shirt any signs of a pink hue or even small pink dots are probably the prob. Show us some scans lol.

    here are the best reggies in the bunch. i requested no quals and grades are about what i expected, thought maybe a couple of 8s, but not overly disappointed. i got a few more guidry 9s.

    no 10s yet from the case. i've submitted less than 30.
