hes definately a military guy, hes got period era boots on and the thin undershirt on instead of the wool top,and hes got the same pant on minus the leggings

Rube I meant the guy in civies, is he and the guy in the first picture one and the same?

    Good for you.

Steve, I don't think so. The first guy has a clearly receeding
hair line, and parts his hair well to the left. The second guy
looks like he parts his hair in the middle, and has a leaner
    look.

    But that suit jacket!! image

The last time I saw something like that was on David Byrne
of the Talking Heads in "Stop Making Sense"!!

"Wizard smoke" and all these crazy fake things they sell in high times magazine. Those were the days!

Those are awesome photos. What did Rube do with all of the cards? lol

It's only a matter of time before print copies of those photos are on ebay as originals.

It's been just over a year since this was posted,
so I thought I would give it a bump for any new
members to see, or for any old members who
    missed it the first go-round.

  • In the first picture what year does the calendar say? I can't quite tell but it looks like it ends with 1...maybe 1911 or 1921?

As far as identifying cards I believe the card second from right under the calendar and second from right by window are both Frank Chance T 205 cards

Edit to add: In the first pic

I can't make it out, Matt, but when I found this
image on the UseNet last year, it was identified
    as a "dorm" from "1911".

GREAT Picture. That kid in the dorm room looks like he came right off one of the T-206s. LOL

1911 would make the most sense as both issues T205 and T206 were issued that year.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Chisty is top right and the 3rd card down is E.M. Ruelbach
  • MisterBungleMisterBungle Posts: 2,308 ✭✭✭

    Help me out, Marc.

Are you talking about the top right in the group
behind the guys head?? The third one down
looks like a cowboy card, like Buffalo Bill or
    somebody.

I just looked up the Ruelback 206 on an old
eBay sale and it looks like the third one down
on the third vertical row from the right. Is
that the one you're talking about??

I don't know much about these old cards or
players, but would like to learn. I just looked
in my old "Total Baseball" book for Ruelbach
and didn't see him listed in the pitchers. I'll
    keep looking.

That'd be me! Thanks for bringing this thread up again -- the pics make great PC wallpaper!

Well, it's been 3 and a half years since we've
visited this old thread. There are bound to
be lots of members who have joined since
    and would enjoy this study.

...and of course there is always the odd
old timer who missed it the first two times.

    Enjoy the read.

The 2nd picture is a "Sports Bar". In the first picture I think the calendar is June 1913.

On topic, if Patton collected I have a weird feeling he would have some well loved examples from the pictures...think PSA grades 1-4...
