Just a really fun 1912-s (not Matte) Toner Lincoln

This coin came out of an NGC 66RB holder. It's been on the auction block many times before, and I think at it's peak it sold for about $1600. I broke it out and submitted it twice to PCGS. First time it was bodybagged. Now it's in a 64RB holder. Still one of my favorite coins. Check out that die crack at 12:30.

Very nice, love the color!!! image A two point drop is surprising. Has the spotting always been on the coin? Wonder if it developed after NGC put it in a 66 holder?

The spots existed on every auction appearance I was able to find back to maybe 2003.

It came in an old no-line fatty NGC holder.

I have seen plenty-a coin residnig in PCGS 66 holders with even more just as apparant spots, in even worse places. My opinion of the grade is that the big P just wanted to see more luster for the big "5" or "6" holder. That, and grading timing could not be worse of late. Still, a likely candidate for an upgrade.

    Nice 12-s Lee!
