Looking for 3 folks for a 4-way BBCE Split

Hey all.

Looking for three folks to join me on a box/lot split from BBCE.

I'm trying to spend between $300-$400.

Looking at thier site, I'm thinking football. They have:

1979 wax tray 12 count: $375
1980 Cello Box: $110
1981 rack lot 12 count: $300
1981 cello box: $525

It comes to $1310. So, if 4 of us got involved, it would be about $325 give or take.

For $325 each would get
3X1979 wax trays
6x1980 cellos
3x1981 racks
6x1981 cellos

I haven't called steve, but I'm sure he would ship separately to us.

Any takers?

I'm not an interested party at this time, but I feel that if those are the website prices, it would not be unreasonable to ask him if he can do all that for $1,200 with handling the shipping.
  • Bob,

I like the idea, but I would rather do a '81 wax box than a cello box - but that's just my opinion.

I chose the cello boxes for two reasons.

    1) more cards. 540/box for wax, 648/box for cello.
    2) You don't have the wax/gum stain issues with the cellos.

I know most agree that the cards from wax are "cleaner", but I have found that to not always be the case. Especially 1980-1984 topps cellos. Those babies are wrapped very loose.

    Nope, not Billy.

    It's Gordon Downie.

I have one person PM with interest, any others?

Edit - Now I have 2, so that makes three of us. Looking for 1 more.

    Alright. This may happen.

    I talked to Steve.

I thought we were heavy on the 81's, so I inquired about the 84 grocery racks.

He sold the 84 grocery racks, but has 12x84 regular racks. They would be $360.

So for the 79 wax trays, 81 racks and 84 racks (12 of each, and we each get 3), it would be $1035.

    He'd offer 10% off, so it's $931, or $233 a piece, plus exact shipping.

I have two interested folks - just waiting for them to confirm. Need 1 more.

You're well on your way now Bob.

Looking at this thread made me think that 1986 (yes I know condition is a bear) would have way more financial potential than 1979, and be slightly cheaper.

    Nick -

Steve is short on 86 racks, but we did add the 84's.

    Come'on, those 79's are cool.

They're not uncool, it's just that I think there is an imaginary premium on them because they are from the previous decade.

Edited to add: Hopefully when this happens there will be live rips with scans. There's nothing better than that.

  • I would have joined if I hadn't quit the hobby already. I had to quit so I could go into training for my upcoming UFC bout with Stantheman.

As Ping said, there is a place available (he took 2) if someone wants it. Two of us have paid, and Ping plans to on Monday. So now or never suckers. Just let him know.
