Anyone notice how much the Mantle Refractors are going for on Ebay?

I found an ebay auction on another thread on here for some Mantle Gold refractors. It was a ridiculous sale, but I couldn't believe how much some of these Mantle refractors are going for. Anyone else think that this is insane?

  • I mentioned this in another thread earlier. Thought it was kind of odd the prices being realized on eBay for these cards when they are in almost every 2008 Topps set at WalMart.

I think I'm going to pull ever Topps Mantle reproduction and HR history card I have and place it on eBay in one giant lot for $1000...someone will buy them.

I think I have brought this up in the past but I think PSA is missing a huge market not having registries for players that have common cards in modren sets after they retire. Especially in the years 2000 and up.

Now would be the time to start buying some of these cards in nice condition if you were looking at it from a registry standpoint. If PSA does put them in, the market will drive prices up, although no a lot, but on some of the more condition sensitive sets it could.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY
  • I can't remember what set these were from, but I bought at a card show the 52 mantle reprints that came in different colored backgrounds. I think it was the '52 set that year. I should sell those.
