rah1959 won this giveaway!
Chris- thanks for the holeys! WOW- you sure sent a bunch, and lots of silver ones, too!
That was an EXTREMELY generous gift- sure, they're just holeys, but most folks don't just give away silver like that!
Most are too new for the Holey Coin Vest- I stick to pre-1900. However, that little Haitian piece I like, and it is "vest-worthy"!
Had the hole not gone through the first part of the date on that 1868 sixpence, it too would be vest-worthy. In fact, I might still hang it on the vest if I don't already have a young-head Victoria 6d.
The liittle Roman is a fourth-century centenionalis- I can't attribute it without squinting through a loupe at the emperor's name, but it has clear legends and should be quite attributable. It's a common coin but a decent one.
Thank you very much!
I'll find homes for the other holeys- will swap or trade some with other holey-headed folk.
Now here is the giveaway part- there were four George V coins in what he sent me. Post once here to say what a great guy coffeyce is and you're entered to win the following: a 1921 threepence, 1921 sixpence, and 1922 sixpence from Great Britain, plus a 1928 Canadian nickel. The coins are holeys, of course. The silver British pieces have small holes at the top for jewelry and the 1928 Canadian nickel has a somewhat bigger hole at the top which would make it a good keychain coin.
Chris- here is the virtual COIN-tributor patch I give my donors- some folks even wear it in their signature line.
