Where is the eagle? ($1)

renman95renman95 Posts: 7,037 ✭✭✭✭✭

I understood that the eagle in some form was to be on the reverse of all coins from the quarter on up (sans bicentennial coinage and commems).

I cannot remember the legislation that kept the eagle off of the current Presidential dollars and next years' Sac.

I know that next year the platinum coinage will get an eagle privy mark, was there any mention of that for the P-dollars?

Help please, brain still in search mode with no results.

I've just assumed that the bill authorizing the coins superceded the mandated eagle. I'm not pleased about it either.

I think this is an excellent question!

This issue was more than likely addressed with the issuance of the State Quarters which, although mandated by law, do not have eagles on their reverses either.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

    Well...

    It's 27mm in diameter.

    It's golden in color.

In a sense, that does describe a Gold Eagle.

It's not the design you ask for, but it's the best I can do.

Also, take a look at your 1976 coinage. No eagles!

Hence the bicentennial disclaimer in the OP image
