Sold Tonight: PSA 7.5 of Clemente, Aaron, Koufax and Banks Rookies ... Hopefully Legit

Tonight, the following auctions ended:

1. 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 7.5 for $3,800.00
2. 1954 Topps Hank Aaron PSA 7.5 for $2,949.00
3. 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax PSA 7.5 for $1,435.00
4. 1954 Ernie Banks PSA 7.5 for $1,680.55

Scans are below. I would rate the scans as ... okay. For some reason, I didn't quite feel comfortable bidding on these cards. The high bidder on the Banks was also the high bidder on one of my old auctions. I'll give it a while and then email him asking if he ever received the Banks and, if so, provide a scan. Did anyone else see these cards?

  • The high bidder on the Banks just bought a PSA 10 Gwynn rookie from me and paid a few minutes after auction ended.

I think PSA reached to some collectors for bumpable cards before announcing the new 1/2 grade, and that is how they typed it up before deciding to make a change in the flip.
  • I asked this guy for some better scans of the Koufax, which he sent immediately. Seemed legit.

Actually his "sales pitch" was fairly decent and relatively forthright - seems okay to me. I don't know if he had any shill bidders or not - probably did...just my opinion.
  • For such high-end cards you would think he would at least spring for the extra .75 cents to oversize the photo's. I personally use Inkfrog on my listings and my auction photo's are very large and clear.

I'm not sure if some of those prices are very strong or very bizarre. Nice cards though. Horrible scans.image
  • truly bad scans, but both buyer and seller seem legit

he makes up for his lack of scanning capabilities with plenty of hype and BS IMO.

Especially his statement regarding the Banks rookie. He assumes that all 200+ 7's have been reviewed.

    Good for you.

He probably left some money on the table for not providing better scans of both the front and back...

    Nice cards though!!!!!!!!!

According to the latest VCP prices, he left NO money on the table ....

    His Aaron card outsold the last 7.5, sold on eBay in July of this year, by almost $900;

the other cards weren't quite as drastic, but most were higher.

    Great looking cards indeed!

He may have made even more with better scans.

His Aaron may have been centered better then the previous one.

People had to go by what he claimed verbally.

That may have turned a few people off.

Or....for all we know he had better scans that he could email people with.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • The Koufax is back up for auction!

    Koufax
  • Asked seller what happened with regards to Koufax, He stated buyer backed out.

Why not sell to second buyer?

I guess he feels that the price will exceed the second buyers top bid.
