Opinions on Thai Baht

Late 19th Century no date silver Thai Baht. Advertised as UNC. I'm thinking more like a slider. Obverse has a lot of hits. Could be from bag marks or cabinet friction. Still a good amount of luster. Also possibly dipped. Can a 140 year old original silver coin exist without much toning?

I dunno. Ajaan knows a little about Thai coinage, mostly from having lived there, I suspect.

  • Chris,
Most Siamese & Thai coins are dated, but the figures are only in Thai. You need to have a numeral chart there to help you work out the date.

It's a different story with Siamese & Thai banknotes. They are a pain in the arse to try & work out the dates, just like Japanese banknotes as well.
