Fairfield Ca. Coin Show 9-7

Anyone go to this show near the Bay Area and want to give a report ?
I know it's kind of a small one day show and the weather is ultra hot , too hot to drive around, and Long Beach is right around the corner, so I didn't bother with traffic and all the other hassles..maybe next time. imageimage

It's a very short hop for me but I didn't know they had a coins show at all. If I'd have known, I'd likely have gone.

I went but I'm not much of a reporter unless you are interested in Eisenhower dollars and Washington quarters.

The IKE I posted in this thread was purchased at that show. A heavily abraded 1974-D. I kinda cheated in that the coin wasn't very cheap at all ($8.00 down from $10.00) which also relates to my comment in this thread. If the coin hadn't been so heavily abraded, I would never have even considered it.

On the plus side, I did pick up a major, major Eisenhower Score but did not want to post until I could post a picture. My camera went to LaLa land and I am waiting to get it repaired (or replaced) but, the coin I picked up was a 1971-S/S Business Strike IKE! It will probably grade out at MS63.

On the washington side, there were plenty to choose from across all grades. I picked up some early 70's and a couple of 65's. I only spotted one Type B in a 1959 Mint Set. The Type C's missed the bus so were not at the show.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • I wanted to go but it's 1.5 hours from here, and by the time we got out of
church and got up there we'd have had less than 2 hours at the show.

Too bad ... I was there 2 years ago and as I recall it was a good show for me buying
    at that time.

There is a one-day show in Merced next Saturday. I've never been to that show so
I don't know how it is. If anything like the Modesto and Fresno shows near it,
it'll be just fair to middling.

    Thanks,
    Mark
