Bags of Canadian Cents

Just came upon two bags of Canadian cents... 1964 and 1965. I am not a Canadian collector but would like to know if there is anything worthwhile searching for? Are high grade coins of great premium?

There is a 1965 variety 4 which is Large Beads and pointed 5 which is scarcer and worth about $15.

There is a 1964 variety that has an extra bud on the maple stem. I don't think that this is a widely recognized variety yet (if it will ever be), but I've seen a thread on a Canadian coin chat forum about it.

  • What is the composition of the '64 Canadian cent ?

(If) it's the same as our "Wheatie" it would be worthwhile to sell for smelting...

Hell, I'd be interested in buying a bag... 5,000 count ?

They are 98% copper. Also, they can't be melted in Canada, not sure about the US.

It's too cold in Cananda. They'll never melt up there.

So (IF) I were to send my Wheaties to Canada for smelting & melt the Canadian cents here in the US it would be O'Tay ? image

Don't laugh, I'm seriously thinking of using the above for a sculpture / monument.. <shhh>
