<< <i>Carew- To specifically answer your question the custom foam is More Expensive than the case with "Pick N Pluck"foam. For the record, Pelican cost on the foam you see in the picture is $87.42ea before you tack on the freight to ship it me. Secondly, Please note that the pricing that I threw out last night was for a much larger case (1510) than the case that Nick is asking about. Nick is asking about foam for a 1450 case. The individually graded card case is a 1510 case. Do some checking around and you will see that this case (1510) cost far more than the $86 your referencing the 1450 with PP foam.
Nick, Your welcome, PM me! >>
No argument from me Matt, I think the point was that the case with the p/p foam was much more cost friendly than some attempt to cut custom foam. In addition , it seems as though the p/p foam actually works much better for a set because you can easily customize how the cards go into the case, by tailoring the foam to your exact needs.
And you are right, the 1510 w/ Pick 'N' Pluck Foam is $144.61
Guys, Here is the link to the EBAY Auction for two Pelican graded card cases that will hold individually graded cards. If these sell, I will press the guy selling these to make a greater investment and offer this into the card market.

Pelican makes great cases- I've probably got 15 of them. One of the cool things is they are sealed by air pressure once they get in a plane. If you don't know how to release the pressure you'll never open them, even unlocked. Had a corrupt customs agent in West Africa try and shake me down and go thru it, and I feigned ignorance about opening it and he gave up. I've dumped one in the ocean by mistake once and not a drop got thru.

Good idea but not very space efficient if you ask me. I don't know if I would ship them in that though. I personally use the old 8 track tape cases. You can find them practically for nothing at garage sales or thrift stores. I have some lined with felt and some without.
I have the Pelican 1510 for one of my player sets. The case can hold over 210 cards in upright position and it is very convenient. Also, the Pelican 1510 is the largest available carry on size for airlines. So, if you ever have to move somewhere far (like being in the military or something) this case is outstanding! You can put it right in the overhead bin to keep it from ever being out of reach (like in the belly of the plane getting thrown in and out with all the other luggage). Hope this helps anyone looking for storage options.

You might be a card collector if the cards that are in your gun safe are more valuable then your guns. I'm there.
