A 1909 with some diagnostic and color flair!

Okay, let's compare our favorate MPL photographs! Have you ever seen a 1909 so beautiful and clear? The horizontal nose die stations straight from a text book. The die striations off the back of Lincoln's coat and head, as well as a flurry of striations in front of Lincoln's forehead. The die lines through and around '1909' also are evident. The reverse rim die gouges are present and can be seen. Not to mention the balance of the tone and wonderful coloration on both obverse and reverse (probably the result of being stored in an envelope). With a little more magnification, the vertical lines on the reverse emanating from the last "A" in America to the right wheat ear and a few other fine striations would be evident. I am working on magnification, and getting better. Can you guess the grade without looking at my set, and why??

Thanks, Ted. Enjoy!

    Ted -

That 1914 is really special - is there an interesting story behind the photos?

Super coin. I saw it in hand and IMHO is undergraded. Very flashy and pretty.

  • Thank you. The leopard hiding in the wheat field worries some, but I'm an animal lover! image

This should be the minimum resolution coins are posted, that is fantastic.

I wish they would have focused on the fields just a tad more as this could have even more lustrous pop than it already shows.

Every Matty needs to be photographed RAW for optimal effect and this is about as close as it gets. image
