With the rumors swirling that Shaun Alexander is close to be signed with an NFL team like his hometown Bengals, would you drop Rudi Johnson or Maurice Morris to pick him up?

  • Neither. He will never get enough carries to be worth picking up. Also, Rudi is a much better alternative as he will get the bulk of the carries in Detroit if their rookie RB falters. Strangely (and depressingly) enough, I drafted both Rudi and Tatum Bell, but I dropped Bell when he stole Rudi's luggage.

but I dropped Bell when he stole Rudi's luggage.

Thanks, CD. Did you read the latest? He thought it was some other guy's but didn't want to throw him under the bus, or something like that. Wonder why he kept Rudi's cash and credit cards, though, LOL!!

    Edit: Here's the latest:

Fri, Sep 5 Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent RB Tatum Bell (Lions) feels his NFL career could be in jeopardy because he is perceived as a thief around the league. Bell said he unknowingly took the bags of Detroit Lions RB Rudi Johnson from the team's practice facility earlier this week. "I'm very, very concerned that this is my career here," Bell said. "The teams that were interested before, they've already got players for that role now. And as long as it's out there that I'm a thief, it's going to be hard. I guess I need to go to Plan B, which is just to find a way to take care of my family."

    And then:

Fri, Sep 5 Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent RB Tatum Bell (Lions) said he thought the bags he took from the Detroit Lions practice facility belonged to free-agent DL Victor DeGrate (Lions) and not RB Rudi Johnson. "I want to defend myself," Bell said, "but every time I do, it's like I'm throwing Victor under the bus and I don't want to do that. So I'm almost like, 'I've got to stop bringing his name into it.' But that's what happened. I'm not lying. And right now, everyone's putting it out there that I'm a thief. They're acting like I got released, and I was mad, so I took the bags of the guy they brought in behind me. But it's not true, and that's what's hurting me so much right now. I woke up this morning and I pretty much don't know what to do about it anymore. It's frustrating."

  • I actually feel really bad for the guy. I can't imagine him intentionally stealing luggage on purpose when a couple days before he and Rudi were very friendly with each other. Who knows though.

It does seem entirely ridiculous for a pro athlete to sabotage his career like that. But if what Rudi said is true, why weren't his credit cards and cash returned to him?

  • I don't think I get it. He's defending himself by saying that he thought the bags that he stole belonged to someone else? And that somehow makes what he did better because he wasn't stealing from the guy that replaced him? What am I missing here?
  • No, he was saying DeGrate called him and asked him to pick up his bags and then Bell just assumed the bags he picked up were DeGrate's, when in fact they turned out to be Rudi's.

Sorry, I accidentally took your bag, here it is. By the way, I spent your cash, kept your credit cards and I am saving your underwear and socks.

I think he is worth the look over in FF, however, I would keep Rudi or Mo-Magic over Akexander and if those are your bench RB's....Alexander is likely no help to you.
