Imagine, the Yankees can be so crucified for FINALLY not being a playoff team in well over a decade. Yet a Sox team that has won two World Championships mixed in with a TON of failure has fans so full of themselves that indeed they are WORSE then Yankee they screem and cry about.

<< <i>You have to excuse today's Red Sox fans -- they can't help themselves. They are the product of a couple of centuries of in-breeding. Yep, the settlers in the original colonies couldn't really help but marry their blood relatives -- and the offspring of those New England colonies are today's Red Sox fans. >>
Yes, some of us are one legged homosexual midgets too.

I hear this alot from the new band wagon jumping Sox "fans" Not that Ripub is a bandwagon jumper. Nah .... but he has bought into the stupid logic. Imagine for a second, with this stupid logic, the Sox go another 10 years or so without winning it all. You have just undermined your own stupid selves with the "its all about now" theory because you will never be allowed to look back fondly on any of the Sox teams that won it all. Nope, not with that stupid logic
Thank you so much for making my point for me grasshoppers

So who would you say has had the best college football program of all-time? If I were to use your theory of who has won the most D1 championships, then I assume you think Yale is the best college football program of all-time. Yale has won 18 national championships; guess who is number two? If you guessed Princeton, then you are correct (doubtful). Let’s put this into perspective, Michigan and USC have won 18 national titles combined. Would you consider Yale a better football program than those two combined?
I understand you are disappointed that your team has fallen apart this year. I assume you are trying to justify the fact that the Yankees have not been relevant (i.e., won a championship) since 2000.
But sometimes don’t make sense

Let them laugh now. Once the new Yankee stadium opens up, and Hank rubber stamps a 270,000,000 payroll. the Red Sox (and the rest of MLB) are going to be come a de facto farm system for the Yankee machine.
very clever of you to gently introduce payroll into this.
We will see, the Red SOx themselves outspend everybody in the universe outside of the Yanks.

And the Tigers, who of course suck. But I do think things are going to change, and change significantly, in the baseball landscape here in the next three years, and that little band box the Sox play in is not going be enough to allow them to keep up with the Yankees. I don't think most of us fully appreciate the revenue streams that are going to open up to the Yankees when they cut the ribbon on this new stadium, and how those streams are going to change the game.
Edit to add: As a Tigers fan I have officially had to retire my 'payroll' hobby horse, so I'm at least one less CU poster that you're going to hear sounding off on that issue.

Just wanted to interject that this isn't exactly true. Sure, the Red Sox are just as guilty of paying huge salaries as the Yankees, but in terms of payroll, the Red Sox are actually 4th.
Yankees $209,081,579
Tigers $138,685,197
Mets $138,293,378
Red Sox $133,440,037
White Sox $121,152,667
Angels $119,216,333
Cubs $118,595,833
Dodgers $118,536,038
Mariners $117,993,982
Braves $102,424,018

Boopotts - that is an excellent point, and one I think I made earlier in the season. Does anyone watch Real Sports on HBO? If you don't, you should. One of the stories this month was on rising ticket prices, and it focused on the two new NY stadiums. One longtime Yankee ticket holder was paying $80K a year (nice!) for his season tickets in the old stadium. Now? The same tickets in the new place = $800K! He told them to shove it - but those seats will become corporate boxes and will get sold to someone. There is a lot more money coming in, not just for the Yankees, but the Mets as well.

ahhh toMAto toMAAAAAto. So I was off by a few teams. The bottom line is that the Sox spend without hesitation now. The Yankees have a incredible amount of money coming off of the 08 payroll. Lets see what they do with it.

Along the same vein I read the Sporting news that something like the 184 most expensive seats in the new stadium are going to bring in $29,000,000 a year. And God knows what the rest of the seats will bring in for Hank and crew.
