First Time Selling Coins . . . ??

have several slabbed PCGS & NGC MS coins to sell - some conditionally rare and key, others in nice MS - where would you go for the best deal? - dont want to lose money on them - wouldnt mind breaking even either or making a few bucks - is Heritage a good place to go for the auction route?? - what other venues would you recommend??

if you can take good pictures and currently have 100% feedback on
ebay i would trickle one or three there and see if you get good results.

start with a few nice coins that are lower priced and start bidding
    at .99 cents.

if you can take decent photos (even if you can't), try the BST Forum here with your desired prices. It costs you nothing to advertise in the BST. The payment certainly comes faster than Heritage's checks. For really rare/key stuff, maybe a Heritage auction might get you more than you might have asked? Could be less too, but that's a risk with an auction. That's my two cents: BST first
  • Research prices on Heritage, Teletrade and Ebay. See where coins like the ones you have sell for the most after subtracting fees. Consigning to a dealer is another way to go, as is selling by yourself over on the Buy-sell-trade forum.

Whether you can get out at break even or a profit depends a lot on how much you paid, what specific coins you bought and when you bought them. For folks that pay full retail when buying, it can be tough to get out at break even after fees, unless that person made good coin choices and/or bought at a good time for those coins. BST is a good route to try first because it costs nothing. The auction houses will charge if the reserve price is not met.

Definitely estimate about what you'd want back after fees/shipping, etc. from a sale on either eBay or some other auction, then just put it up for that amount on the BST!!! Can't hurt at all and it might save you and some buyer a little $$ and time w/o making eBay a little richer.
  • Heritage has been known to deal for nice stuff if you're on their A list.
Otherwise, you pay 15% of hammer and bidders bid 15% less than book because
they know they do too. There goes 30% right off the top.
BTW, they have a free submission deal going on in October.
Gotta total $5000 with a hundred or two average hammer.
I didn't read it all so may be a little fuzzy on the details.
I agree you'll probably do better on ebay if they're slabbed by a good TPG.
