Another Amazing MPL Photo - Yes! Another!!!

Check out this 1910. What a hoot! And FYI, it's not a 67, or a 65, or a 64, for that matte(r).

Very nice image. Just look at those diagnostics on that coin!

Is there any way to place white or yellow arrows at the diagnostic points on the coin? In that way, this would be great teaching tool for a book.

For an obvious example, an arrow pointing out the die gouge at the last "T" in 'trust.....

Of course, there well may be 10-15 arrows, and each could be recognized, pointed out (literally), and explained, where neccesary.

I've decided to persue a course of direct diagnostic imaging, rather than using "display" images to showcase diagnostic elements. I find that the display images don't really do justice to the elements, and visa-versa.

This weekend, I will set aside some time to try and capture some of the diagnostics of this above beauty, and post them in a separate post. Perhaps some of you may be able to make comparisons with your own coins and discover unpublished common elements. As geeky as this sounds, we may be on to something that will provide some real benefit to the numismatic community.

That is an amazing matte finish there. Looks almost like a thick piano gloss.
