Just in today - another 60s Hartland - Yogi plus mask!

This is a great set!

I've been working on it for some time - it's my second - the first one, I started around 1986 - and gave it to my son for Christmas - the 2nd is gonna be a lot more expensive unfortunately.

The Yogi is cool - and WITH the mask - most of those on ebay are sans the mask.

I'm half way there but the tough ones are the SPs which go for some serious coin.

Thanx for viewing.

    Nice Mike.

I've always wanted a few of these to display in my basement; however, I know some of the older ones are way too much $$.
Are any of the cheaper (<$50) ones from later years nice?

    Hi Bob

Hartland produced the original batch around 1960 - the set of 18 will set ya back some coin since there's 2 SP's potentially in the grand range. If ya have the original tag and box? Then we're talking big bucks!

Then there's the 25th Anniversary set which came out in the early 90s - the most expensive one is the Mantle - it can be picked up for around 80 bucks on the high end - it probably books for around 125$ range.

Also, in the 90s there were some series of extra players done - grouped as the Dallas and the Missouri Hartlands - the SP chaser is the Dallas Feller which can go for over a grand - may book at about 2K.

Then finally Hartlant produced a new set in the 21st century - we'll call them the "New Hartlands" - they look great and can be bought for like 15 bucks - tho they were originally sold for 40 bucks - I bought them new and got reemed! I don't think they ever finished the run since I don't get mail from then anymore - out of biz? Who knows.

So, my recommendation to save some money - do the original 18 in the 25th Anniv. ed.

The 60s even in rough shape go over 50 bucks easy - I look for ones in ex-exmt shape for the right price.

I paid like 80+ bucks for the Yogi.

  • I only have a single Hartland... A 1960's Warren Spahn. He has a permanent residence on one of the shelves in my office....

That's a pretty nice set Allen.

Just so people know - the tags are reprints - as stated in the auction.

Very cool, Mike! You said Yogi's catchers mask is often missing... is it attached and breaks off, or was it designed to be removable? Do any of the others in the original set have frequently missing parts?

Broken bats. You see lots with broken bats. Anything that protrudes much is liable to be a problem.

That's exactly what I was thinking looking at some of those Allen posted. It looks like a bumb into a display case could send some of those tumbling and snap off some of those bats pretty easily. Do they have stands to provide them with a bit more stability without inhibiting display?

They are larger them say standing lineups. I have never seen them with stands.

I can't remember seeing any originals or 25th anniversary models with stands. I have the Spahn from the newest set Mike mentioned and it doesn't have one, but it stands up quite nicely on it's own.
  • Some of the first Hartlands made - the Braves along with Mantle and a few other players had metal stands that the statues stood on. The Hartlands had magnets on their feet which stuck to the metal stand. For some reason, I'm not sure why, they stopped making them with the stands. The Hartlands with the stands are pretty difficult to find and often times sell for more. Here are some of my Hartlands. I apologize for the poor picture.
