Possessiveness of certain coins or series....

Are there any coins or coin series that that you are possessive about and will not part with? I’m very possessive of Kennedy half dollars, and will not part with a single one of them, regardless of grade. I almost talk myself on occasion to sell and/or trade them, but when it comes crunch time to list them I just cant do it. Is there anyone else on the forum that does this?

    Kennedies? I spend those. image

I've gotten fairly detached after selling off collections over the years. I think every dealer needs to reach a certain level of detachment.

I'm mighty sentimental about my older metal detector finds, though- I don't sell those. Usually nobody would want 'em much, anyway, in the state they're in.

I have some pangs about selling off my Roman coins lately, but collections come and they go with me. I have two of my childhood coins left and those are about it. Those and the holeys on my vest and hat, which again, nobody else would want in many cases.

I don't think I really have a "series." I tend to think I can never part with my most recent purchases. Right now those would be Capped Bust Quarters and a really nice RE CBH. However, I've felt that about coins in years past and eventually, I have sold them or at least accepted the fact that I will sell them someday.

Yes, especially when the coins are in the top one percent of a specific date and the current prices don't reflect their true value. It also doesn't help when there is modest interest (very few collectors who will buy the coin regardless what the label says) for those coins.

What do you mean "certain coins"? I'm that way about my entire collection.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
  • The coin in my icon is the one coin I would not part with.
I have wanted to send it to mark goodman or pcgs to get a high definition photograph of it for years now but I just cant bear the thought of mailing it!!
