Surprise 1800's 1/2 crown gifts

Its amazing how far kindness goes...

I got the wonderful coins pictured below today from a gentlemen I met at a training class.

About 2 months ago I was in a FBI post bomb blast course. I met two British investigators that worked their 9-11 subway bombings. Since they were visitors I gave them Jefferson dollars for them and thier kids as well as some wheat cents bicentenial qaurters and such to take back as souviners. The guy told me his aunt had gave him some british coins and he would send me some since he did not collect.

Well today I recieved a out of country envelope with no return address and the coins were inside.

Only regret I have is not having his address to send him a nice thank you card and some Christmas gifts.

    Wow, those are...

    Big.

    And very...

    Yellow.

Hey, anybody who gives me Victorian silver is automatically a member of the "nice people" club. image

That's how I met ajaan the Shroomdude. He sent us a Victorian coin when my daughter Victoria was born, and thus began her collection of them, which I have added to over the years.

Seriously, that was mighty cool of those fine British chaps. I hope you kept their names with the coins. I wish I had done that with all the gifts I've been given over the years. I'll bet the Holey Coin Vest is about 20% donated material. I wish I had remembered who gave what, now, in case I ever give it a webpage.

Where was this? We train a lot of federal law enforcement here in Brunswick (Glynco), GA. I used to live a few hundred yards away from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, in fact. We grew quite accustomed to explosions and automatic weapons fire. Sort of like the poor folks in places like Fallujah must be, except we didn't have to duck and cover.

The course was in Florence AL. It was a week long but good stuff. I also went to the ATF course in Bell Buckle TN. The brits made it worth while I love their accents.
