Beautiful Medal! I am curious though of the reverse design... I'm wondering just how long the Dutch Horticultural Society was using this design to award advances in Botany? as it is almost the same as period German 1 Marks with the Oak Leaves, Acorns, and ribbon tied Laurel. (right side and lower anyway) If the Dutch had been using this design in these medals for several years since before 1873 then it was the Germans who borrowed from them, or was it the other way around? The old adage of what came first- the chicken or the egg I suppose. Thanks for sharing! Jim
