I finally met someone from the boards for the first time today...slightly OT

In the year since I've been active on this site and the year I spent lurking before, I have never had the opportunity to actually meet anyone from the boards- probably because I can't make it to coin shows, etc.

Today I finally met up with ASUTodd, who is a regular on the metal detecting forum- when he came into town for the Appalachian State- LSU football game. We had PM'ed last year right after App State beat Michigan, and pretty much made plans then for him to come down to Baton Rouge for their game here.

Due to the approaching hurricane, they moved the game up to 10:00 AM, so we didn't have time to tailgate, but still had a heck of a good time. Great guy, lots of fun, and college football to boot! Todd also gave me a "lucky coin"- an IHC that he had dug to assist me in my beginning metal-detecting pursuits.

We talked mostly about our respective teams, but some coin talk made it through- I was interested to find out he has actually met the famed LordMarcovan, among others...

Now if I could ever meet the famed half-dime club- I read about their exclusive luncheon at the ANA with great envy...

    I don't think that's OT at all.

It's great when an old plan works out.

I have not met anybody-yet. It's funny, on one of my groups of forums (model cars) I've met probably 250 people or more. (Been posting there since 2000) On another forum group I post on, from since 2002-I've met no one.

I know I'll meet some coin collectors soon because I plan to be at Coinfest in CT in November!

  • I've always had great times meeting fellow CU forum members! They almost always have a coin for show and tell. The stories are good. It is super to have someone to tell your stories too as many of my other friends get bored with my coin stories. Congrats and keep it up!

Excellent! Congrats on getting together. The best part of coin collecting is being able to share it with other geeks who like coins too!
