TOKEN vs JETON: what is the difference, or is there really one??

what is the difference between a "jeton" and a "token"?? are they inter-changeable?? just curious, and would like some feedback from others who may have an opinion.

personally, I consider a token as a piece issued for use as currency in general, often with an assigned value, such as CWT and Conders; while a jeton is issued for use in a specific transaction, such as bus fare or phone calls or game play (video games or slot machines).

tokens are used as currency, even single transactions. jetons are not, they're used as game counters etc.

That's generally true. Tokens usually had some sort of monetary use. Jetons were mathematical counters or gaming pieces or whatnot. (One could argue that in their use as gaming pieces, they might have served some monetary function, like casino chips do today, I guess.)
