ESPN is reporting that Chad Johnson has legally changed his name to

Chad Javon Ocho Cinco.

I'm not sure what exactly to say about Chad Johnson that the name doesn't all ready say about Chad Johnson.

Most of the critics probably enjoyed Chad's antics in his first few years.

He was one of the few bright spots on a dreary team.

Now that the team has serious intentions towards the playoffs they forget that a little fun can be a good thing.

If Chad produces (his numbers last year were excellent even though he did drop more passes than ever before) it will be fun, if he doesn't ... it will be distracting.

    However.....

The Bengals will once more re-learn that self-absorbed "me first" players like Johnson always end up damaging the team and wrecking the season. They simply are not worth keeping no matter what skills they possess on the field. They always do more harm than good.

    Remember Carl Pickens? Cory Dillon?

What enterprise, in any field, retains dissatisfied employees who drag down the enterprise's progress?

In professional sports, the egos of the owners, GMs and head coaches are something to behold. They always think they can cure team cancers with their "special" management skills that no one else has. Time and time again, they are proven wrong. But they never stop trying.

I think its unfortunate that Chad has that labrum tear because I think he would have posted up possibly career numbers this season. The best think to happen to chad so far has been Marv Lewis putting an end to catering to his shennanigans. He wanted to be traded and threatened to hold out- well Marv stated "Ok well looks like he wont be playing" sure enough he shows up to camp on time and looked to be working hard until the injury- he says he will play through it but who knows for how long before he gets it mangled.

    I like the name though

No doubt. I didn't even think of that.

  • The head coach ordered the trainer to issue him #90 this season. I guess he'll have to change his name to nueve cero.

Chad needs to brush up on his Spanish...85 is spelled out as ochenta y cinco.

It's a shame that a player has to resort to off field antics to get in the news. I miss the good old days when a player would have to go out and have a great game in order to get their name in the news.

He should've changed his first name to Idiot.
