<< <i>What are they telling everyone to do down there? Anyone in New Orleans going to get out? >>
I wondered last time if anyone lost thier collections in the Katrina hurricane?? I wonder how many were able to take it with them or if they had to leave some things behind??
As a resident of LA, a collector and a licensed P&C insruance agent I have read numerous claims that included sports collectibles as a small part of the total loss from Katrina. Most homeowner's claims in general in New Orleans went unpaid thanks to a court ruling stating that the storm did not cause the flooding, the levees failing caused the damage. I have also seen claims where the homeowner purchased flood insurance but reduced the coverage on personal property to lower the premium. The thinking was that the flood insurance would cover any loss. Think about your own situation. If you lost everything you owned and were only covered for $15-20k in personal property, what are you going to replace first?

The family my MIL works for in Shreveport had a house in New Orleans next to the Mannings home there many of their one of a kind items were stolen. The flood did not really damage their homes, but the looting did.

WOW! Small world again. My aunt and uncle live in the same neighborhood and their home was undamaged in Katrina accept for a few missing shingles. Funny how the hurricane did not seem to effect the wealthy.
