Slightly OT but sports related: What is more important....

Human life or college football?
We potentially have another deadly hurricane heading to our state. Our governor, who I actually think is awesome, said today that he was waiting to see what happens before he calls for an evacuation of South Louisiana. I only brings this up because he mentioned LSU's opening game. The SEC and school officials are listening and are basically awaiting Gov Jindal's decision before cancelling the LSU/Appalachian St game.
Tomorrow is the 3rd "anniversary" of Katrina. Did we not learn our lesson 3 years ago? LSU fans have been anticipating this coming Saturday for almost 8 months. However, I was taught in school that the purpose of history was learn from our mistakes so we do not make those mistakes again.

<< <i>Well speaking from a Texan's point of view I would rather not have a huge amount of Lousiana folks hijacking our cars, breaking into our homes and raping people in the shelters, I still do not want people dying left and right so I would either say evacuate BEFORE the hurricane hits this time that way you won't lose that many people. However being a college fan as well I would rather watch the game. Life can wait, go football! >>
You can just quote him so the moderators can see what he wrote too.
Very classy.
They should get all the people out before anything like that ever happens again.

<< <i>Wow, that'll be a good game. Hope it's able to be played. >>
In an effort to get away from Gary's comments, I will mention that this is supposed to be the first time a D1 champ from the previous year has played the D2 champ from the previous year. Yes, I know they are not called D1 and D2 any more but it was easier to type.
As for evacuating, I think that was the mistake last time. New Orleans is in a VERY bad area for hurricanes. I lived in Florida for a long time before moving to Tennessee and people used to prepare a lot for hurricanes because of how often they hit. Louisiana has had its share, but not many major storms, so Katrina caught everyone off guard and many were unprepared for whaty happened. Also, keep in mind that the flooding in New Orleans was not because of storm surge directly, but rather faulty levees. The storm is predicted to move just West of New Orleans as of now, which would mean the stongest storm surge would be in the New Orleans area.
On the flip side, the game is to be played Saturday and the storm is not scheduled to hit until at least Tuesday afternoon. So evacuation may be a bit premature, but cutting the post-game party short may be a good idea
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

The concern right now is the fact that there are only so many hotel rooms in Baton Rouge. With 100,000 people at Tiger Stadium Saturday and another 20,000 outside the stadium just for tailgating purposes, about half of them will be staying in Lafayette or even New Orleans. Adding another 25-30000 extra cars on the highway compared to 3 years ago and trying to get out of town Sunday would be ugly.
Edit to add: It is not just Louisiana. Other states are facing similar situations. However, this is the state I live in and I do not want to miss the game.
<< <i>No need to edit. I have already saved it on a Word file. >>
I think to "prove" something you need to screen shot or quote them. I think Word can be altered.

AragornTheBold, you need to be banned from this board. Hopefully the mod's will do it, and also ban all of your other ID's.
<< <i>With as tasteless as the remark was, will it really result in a ban? I don't know. >>
Let's hope it does result in a ban.
