I would tend to agree, most of the time. However, in my situation, with my Cardinals collection being in an album, I would just bust it out anyway. I have about 10 or so that I have busted out. I just stick the flip behind the card in the album. The sticker actually works better for me in my album situation. I had just never seen it before.
I imagine PSA gives a discount if you have a lot of cards certified and not slabbed. Just a guess, but usually when I see those auctions, they have several.
