    Looks to be a French 25 Centime in copper-nickel.

    "RF" = Republique Francais.

    Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    Some of those phrasesa dn symbols are found on lots of French coins

    RF = republique francaise

    is a good clue for future reference, and also appears on colonial items
