Does this Stargell Auto Look Authentic to You?

I have never seen him sign this way. I have 5 or 6 examples, is this an early example? I have never seen him sign just a last name either.

So are you saying PSA is tooling everyone ? I don't think PSA would run the risk to destroy there company over a ball card do you ? you have to remember, player during there time have to sign cards, and other stuff in one specific manor. After there years they can sign stuff any way the want. I ask for a DNA report before buying. Just my opinion.

I've never seen him sign just his last name, either....especially in what is decidedly a modern autograph, (e.g. not vintage ballpoint pen)

They can make mistakes too. I have never seen Stargell sign like this. He actually has a very clear auto first name and his last name starts with a very straight S that looks like a backward 7. I haven't seen any curved S's and no last name only autos that is why I was questioning it.

I'm not very good at looking at sigs - heck, I sign my own name about 40 different ways.

First - I just don't think anyone would fake his sig?

Perhaps this was gotten on the fly - he was at a hotel or something and the person just handed it to him while walking - and this is what he got.

I have an Al Dark on a 53T that's awful - again - apparently given on the fly.

Or...this could be fake.

Actually, I've seen Stargell sign his last name only frequently, although mostly on team signed balls...It's legit, although most people would prefer the first and last name. He seemed to just sign his last name when in a hurry...

Actually, there are a lot of known examples signed simply, "Stargell." That's nothing new. I think we had a thread on that recently.

Willie Stargell often signed only his last name, he had a really beautiful signatiure usually, every letter visible...towards the end of his life, I believe he had some severe health issues, and that might account for the poor quality of this one. I do believe it is good.

However, as I have stated before, as an autograph collector, you want the best example of a players signature you can find. I would only buy this is I needed a "filler" or it was cheap. That being said, this one is overpriced.

actually it is, on the 66 it is curved down not like the backwards 7 it normally is.

I have in person signed 8x10 which he only signed his last name. got it outside 3 rivers in 83'...remember him not being in the best mood when he signed it. looks the same as the 66' card.

I remember several reports late in Willie's playing career about his practice of signing autographs with "last name only".
