I need your advice on unopened Baseball......

I do not collect modern cards so I am not in tune on what to get. My Dr. that I have had for years knows I collect Pre War and at my last visit told me that his son has discovered baseball cards. He brought his son over to come take a look at some of my cards. He is only 9 years old and is just starting out. There is one local shop where I live but it is all over priced junk. He takes his son in there but he knows he can get a better deal on line. He wants to spend $150.00 on new unopened baseball packs. I thought he could get a ton of 80s junk but the kid won't know the players etc etc. So, I now have to spend $150.00 and get the best value for him. Do I go to Blowoutcards.com? or?????? Please give me a few options on what to get...... I looked at the list of new products and have no clue what to get. I doubt the kid knows the difference on a good card and bad card, I just want to get him something that he can enjoy and open and maybe get a few jersey cards and a couple auto's........Any help with this is appreciated. I want to get it this week for him.

What city are your near ? If the boy can follow some local team by news, computer or TV it may keep his interest.
It does not matter why he likes a player or a team, just that he can learn and enjoy from following them.
You can get him a starter set of a team or a certain player. $150 is a wad without knowing if he even likes baseball.
A box from your local Wally world might be fun to rip with his Dad ... or you since he's having you do the work.
good luck.

5 packs a box, 15 cards per pack(not 5 like the site says) and 5 guaranteed "hits" per box with one guaranteed to be an autograph. He could get 3 of these with the $150, get 15 "hits" and still have a bunch of money left over. 2x the price of a blaster, for 5x the hits.

My Sandberg Topps Master set
I agree with this statement 100%
My son is 9 and he just loves the chrome.
I think he would be bored stiff with anything else in comparison once he opens chrome .
Having said that , I am the same way , I love the chrome and lots of it , I like it everywhere on my car, on my trucks around my drums around my desk . . . Oh , that's not chrome , that is brass . . .
Doh!
I'll also put in a thumbs up for Topps Chrome, he likes the shiny stuff, A&G not so impressive to him. He liked the fact that Goudeys had Tony Perez and Sparky Anderson "old-timey" looking cards.
You could get 2008 SPX BB or FB for around $150. 10 "hits" per box.
The Ultra from last year in BB and FB were 5 packs per box and can be had for $45-$60 ea.
Otherwaie I would go from the Chome.
I would buy from Dave and Adam or Chris at Blowout.
Edit: Ultra BB with 5 GU or autos per box is $38. There are Josh Hamilton autos in there. Ultra FB is $53
