Extended Rookie or Rookie?

I notice that Beckett has the XRC notation next to all of the cards in the 2001 Upper Deck Prospect Premiers. Why is this?

David Wright has his first card from this set, though most folks consider the 2002 Bowman Chrome as being his rookie card.

XRC goes to any card issued in a non-regular manner (i.e. you have to buy a complete set ala the old Donruss Rookies or Topps Traded Sets) or inserts not considered part of a regularly numbered set.

The 2001 Upper Deck Prospect Premiers were issued in packs.

The answer is because that is the way Dr. Beckett wants it to be.
