Whiff!

Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Thursday against the Nationals. He's in a 3-for-35 slump with 18 strikeouts. He is on pace for 213 strikeouts, which would break the season record of 199 he set last year.

Yeah but his pace is kinda the most in BB history so it might be newsworthy.

True, but there's only about 5 weeks left in the season - to be on pace at this point means he's pretty likely to get there.

    Only some, not all.
  • Speaking of whiffs, I think it's kinda funny that Arod whiffs once for every 4 at-bats. Although his average is .307, I still think he's waaaay over-paid at 28 million per year. His salary and lack-luster performance are certainly contributing to the Yankees bad situation (they won't make the playoffs for the first time in the last 15 years).

Not really. Less than stellar pitching, poor production from the 5-9 hitters and bozo plays like Damon made the other day are the main reasons they've dropped off lately. Plus, his salary is nothing spectacular for the Yankees. If it was a team with a middle of the pack payroll then that'd be true but not a team where a majority of the guys are all making $10+ million.

edit: For his career, Arod strikes out 1 every 4.8 AB's while Howard strikes out 1 for every 2.9 AB's. Chipper is obviously superior to all of them though since he only K's about once every 7 AB's. image

This just in...Utley is not the next Ted Williams, Rollins was a one-year wonder and Howard is this decade's version of Rob Deer, LOL!

    Oh, and Sillies suck, too!
