1898 Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition HK-283


Official brass medal of the Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition held at Omaha, Nebraska in 1898.
The obverse features a left facing female bust. The reverse offers a superb depiction of a plains Indian mounted on a
bareback pony spearing a bison (buffalo). The dies for the obverse of this medal were sculpted at the United States Mint at Philadelphia.
The reverse was designed by T.R. Kimball of Omaha, Nebraska

    My only example - picked this up on a whim at a small auction a number of years ago....I had seen a few listed in old Bowers and Merena catalogs so I knew a little bit about this history behind it.

    Yes, yellowkid, I just got it off ebay pretty cheap. It is the smaller one. I think its 35 mm.
