Filing UPI's after 7 days will mean you file alot of UPI's. Maybe try sending emails after 7 and UPI's after 10 to 14 days. With the feedback hostage system in place filing a UPI after 7 days may ensure you get low DSRs

<< <i>Lets see there are hundreds of thousands of transactions that go off on Ebay every day without a hitch we only hear about the negative ones. I have found maybe one buyer in 200 is really that bad. Some are a little more jumpier than others, but do not mean any harm and will usually end up being repeat customers if you let them. >>

Really? You just stated on another thread only 5 days ago, "I have 18 items unpaid that I can file UPIs on between tonight and tommorow night. The average feedback is 387. 3 are Power Sellers. This is getting out of control and Ebay does nothing. I know of one buyer who looking at his feedback got his 5th from me today, yet no suspension."

So, if you had 18 UPIs to file and you already stated "one buyer in 200 is really bad," then that means you must have sold 3600 (18 X 200) items in such a short amount of time? Wow, you are amazing! What is your eBay user id?

And they must be "really that bad" because you obviously thouth it was bad enough to start a thread about. >>

Magnum, it seems as if leiascards is a bit contradicting at times.

  • << <i>Guess what they all paid except for one. I sell 100 to 200 items a week sometimes. Yes many buyers are stretching the limit on paying to 7 days, and it gets frustrating, especially when you actually need that cash for something else. I have filed more UPIs in the past couple of months than ever, but that is probaly 2 fold. First I am selling more than ever before on Ebay. Second the changes Ebay has made has invited buyers to drag their feet. Again frustrating, but does not make them what I call a bad buyer. When I say bad transaction I mean those who NEVER pay or try to scam the seller after they pay. >>

One of those late payers has become a bad buyer. She took 8 days to pay paid Saturday night and threw a fit because the item was not mailed until Monday. >>

Glad to hear most of them paid. I guess my point is that there are many, many threads on here complaining about this or that regarding eBay. If someone wants to come on here and voice their opinion, so be it. If another member doesn't want to read it, then they can choose not to, nobody's forcing them. It's pretty easy to know what the thread is about by the title, right?

The topic of this thread is not important to me and it's obviously not important to you as well since you don't take PayPal. But it was important to the OP for whatever reason. He should be able to come on here and air his opinion w/o having to hear "How many more posts are there going to be?"

UPIs are important to you (and all sellers), but to someone who does not sell on eBay, then they could probably care less. How would you like someonee telling you "How many more posts are there going to be?"

You have your right to complain about eBay just as much as the next guy. People who do not want to read it have that option not to. But I just don't see how one can complain about the # eBay threads (and yes, there are too many) when they start their own?

That don't work because with many items I sell those few days can be the difference in making money on the item or taking a loss. My DSRs are all 4.7 and above. Lowest one is for S/H charges and most of my items are sent with free shipping.

When this thread was started it was like the third thread in about 3 hours on the same subject the others were still near the top. If I had not said it someone else would have.

  • FYI: I'm doing a lot more than complaining.

In 2003, I started selling auto parts on eBay full time. In 2006, when eBay hiked store listing fees 500% overnight, I took my company in a completely new direction and started concentrating on my own web site. That's the best business decision that I have ever made.

In 2004 and 2005, I averaged over 60,000 active listings at any given time. I now have 8000 active listings. I have spreadsheets built and ready to upload that would add 30,000 more listings in a single day, but I'm not launching them. I can not keep up with the amount of changes that eBay is bombarding us Powersellers with. I used to pay ~$12,000 per month in eBay fees. I now pay less than $4000 per month. My eBay sales are very far down since I am not running the volume of listings that I once did. eBay is solely to blame for this.

First they made it borderline non-profitable. Now they are making it more and more difficult.

I had a long conversation with my eBay rep last week about all these changes and rechanges. Apparently there are rumors of eBay no longer allowing 3rd party checkouts. I saw those rumors at the same time I saw the rumors about no-more-money-orders. The electronic payments only rumor is now a reality, I'm just waiting to see what's done about 3rd party checkout. The loss of that option could very well be the final straw for me.

We will see, but don't throw me in with the crowd that says they are leaving and never does.

In the official Ebay announcement if you click on the links to read the details they do talk about how third party checkout will be eliminated. Ebay wants the checkout procedure from every seller to be identical.
  • IMHO third party checkouts were bad as a buyer I REFUSE to use them.

While it looks like all those different funky looking checkout screens will be eliminated, it looks like Ebay will still be working with the 3rd party checkout systems so they can provide the seller with the info they need. At that point though a 3rd party may no longer be worth paying for if the new Ebay-Paypal-creditcard system simplifies the process.

Here's the link, about half way down.

Is eBay planning to eliminate third-party checkout?
Yes. We realize that checkout services offered by eBay Certified Solution Providers are valuable services to our sellers. Our plan is not to disrupt these services but to work closely with these providers to integrate them into eBay checkout in 2009. Ultimately, it's eBay's goal to have buyers always pay for their purchases within the secure confines of eBay.

Eventually, a viable alternative will emerge. Perhaps that's already happening with people building their own websites, etc.

Does anyone know of third parties offering templates for online stores and auctions web sites? It seems setting up your own site would be a viable option if you didn't have to pay so much to have it designed from scratch. I am more talking about having real time DB's for inventory and viable check out and CC payments built into the templates. I see lots of sites where cards are listed but never updated when sold or there is no way to "checkout" and you just have to email someone and hope they still have the card.

I use Marketworks, which has been bought out by Channel Advisor. They use your eBay template and description on your own web site. They also do inventory management for you so if it sells on eBay, it will show sold on your site. I've never used this option myself, as my inventory is infinitely replenishable, so I can't really give you any better details.

If you aren't concerned with selling on eBay, don't worry about the eBay 3rd party checkout services. Instead, I suggest opening a yahoo store. 1 in every 8 internet retail sites are yahoo stores. They have a very powerful platform. Your site could be as simple or as complex as you would like. They charge a low monthly rate, and 1% commission. You will have to provide your own traffic via advertising.
