Especially you guys on the East coast. Goot , mmsportscards & Perry you guys okay?

Tropical storm Fay started on the west coast of Florida, went accross the state to the east coast and is now getting ready to head back west towards us.

I just saw on the news that 25 inches of rain has ben reported on the the east coast in some areas. That's crazy!

I talked to my buddy in Titusville this afternoon and they we're in the eye at that time, at least that's what he said. Melbourne had 20 inches of rain.
It's weird that it was headed right for the bay area and we dodged another bullet
  • Matt,

My parents live in Melbourne Fl and are awaiting evacuation

    Dave

P.S how is it near you Matt ?

Fogot to add; there has been 1 reported death attributed to Fay. The power went out so this guy decided to run his generator. Problem was, he put the generator inside his houseimage

Needless to say, he died of cm poisoning.

This happened in Highland, Fl. I wonder who it was? Beavis or Butthead?
  • Good Luck to all of you in Florida
I just saw on the news that they were warning people to be careful when walking around outside, seems the Aligators are jumping the riverbanks and wandering into peoples back yards

It's not near us yet Dave. We are just now starting to get some rain from the storm. If it goes the way they think, it's gonna go north-west above the bay area where we live but should dump alot of rain on us.

It's only gonna be a little windy here. Nothing major.

Surf is down to 4' at the Cocoa Bch pier.
  • Man that's a lot of rain. I was complaining earlier today because here in Yukon, OK we've all most gotten 9 inches of rain since monday. IT WILL NOT STOP RAINING. Tomorrow is "suppose" to be rain free but we'll see. Good thing is that I put down some sod last weekend and have only had to water twice(Sat & Sun).image

Yeah still here in mel beach, it was perty nasty last night and glad i got up. Water drippin from the ceiling in the kitchen with cards all around NOT GOOD though was really lucky big puddle in between 2 rose piles runs from 68-79 on the counter. NOT GOOD i was all over the house lookin for leaks nothin. Just a bad spot on the flashing from what i figure. But boy the rain wouldnt stop!!!!!! We had alot of fun yesterday golfin, shorepound, even did a lap in the river on the tube lol (island hurrican party) cooked lobster and smoked fish. Did more work in the last three days then in the entire month lol.

Hope everyone is ok, saw some pretty grim pics of houses ruined due to flooding. Man some of them houses on the river are hit, youd think folks movin to florida willing to spend couple mil building on a house would at least find some high ground on the lot.

  • So far, so good here in Gainesville.
  • A LOT of rain here in Satellite Beach. We got some wind, but the only real damage from that was tree branches everywhere. Luckily only lost power once for about 5 minutes so that was lucky as well. I saw earlier that something like 40,000 in nearby cities had lost power.

I rode my bike up to the beach (driving's not an option) to check the waves one final time before sunset (already surfed once image) and pretty much every street is closed due to flooding. Many spots were so deep I had to get off and walk my bike through the water. Deepest standing water I walked through was about knee high on me and I'm about 6 ft tall, and that's not even counting anything that had already run off into the sewers!

No school...again! This makes three days in a row now. I should be excited but after being stranded in my house for a few days now, it's gotten a little old.
  • Another check in from Gainesville - so far so good but I fear the rain more than anything, my back yard floods pretty easy. *sigh* We'll see, I went & got several sandbags earlier today so hopefully we'll be fine.

I would highly recommend the following to all of you. No tropical storms, no hurricanes, no earthquakes. No alligators, no crocodiles, no poisonous snakes, no tarantulas, no stingrays, no sharks, no grizzly bears. Ocassional blizzards, incarcerated mayors, and NFL victories:

Yeah, I washed off right when I got home. I just hope that those little kids swimming in it are alright!

    No thanks....from another site

"Monthly average temperatures range from a high of 83.1 degrees to a low of 14.0 degrees!!!!"

Me and my dad were watching a Tigers game on MLB extra innings the other night and people were wearing JACKETS in AUGUST! Complete madness. I practically get a sunburn from the time I walk from my car, wait in line for tickets, and enter Tropicana Field.
  • It was only 87 today and one of our local weathermen seriously called it a cold front.

Yeah tell me about it.....I'm at the south side of the storm, directly northwest from the northernmost Bahamas. It's been on top of us for roughly 36 hours now.

  • Finally clear of it!!!!!!! Just hope it doesnt come back!!!!!!
  • I would not trade my sunny Florida for the winter of the north.

Its rainy days like these I can actually catch up with organizing my collection. It is hard to sort cards on the beach image

The greatest selling point is that we can play outside all year long. (I'm originally from the North) Team sports to the golfing or surfing ... its here.

I don't miss shoveling snow or the slush that last through the spring months.

It may have taken some years, but we have all the major sports now in Florida. (except we lost our 2 MLS clubs)

    cheers

And what a bummer that was!! We used to drive over to Tampa to see Carlos Valderamma, Mamadou Dialo, etc. play all the time. They put that indoor league team over in Orlando, but it's just not really the same.

I'm about an hour north of Orlando. We escaped with hardly anything on Tue. & Wed. but after the turn back across the state we're getting pounded with rain & wind as of about 3:00 p.m. today. Doesn't look like it's letting up either.

  • My home near Ft. Myers Beach saw little bad weather from this storm, but I wasn't there.

Since Sunday at 0700 I have been holed up in a federal government operations center helping to manage the response to Fay.

Those of you in northeast FL and across the northern part of the State, get ready for several days of hard rain. Jax, Gainesville, Tallahassee and the Big Bend. Over the next four days you could see up to 20 inches of precip. Not as much as Melbourne / Brevard, but close to it.

This event may wind up causing flood damage all the way to Mississippi before it's over. We're already looking at that scenario.

It's been raining here now for 12 hours, my back yard is flooded, something I didn't know could happen. There are two ways to get out of my
neighborhood and both of them are flooded. The sliding glass door to my backyard is also leaking and I have no idea why. Leaves and
branches all over the place..a war zone. Worried all night that an oak tree next to my kids room would come down...got little sleep. Hopefully
    it will be better today.

Kevin, I'm about 30 miles south of Ocala and it has been raining here for the last 22 hrs. It started around 2:00 p.m. yesterday. I had an oak tree splinter and part of the tree fell about 5 feet from my house... on the side where the kids bedrooms are. Thank God it was five feet away from the 8 month old's bedroom window! It has finally let up a little here within the last hour.
