Question about a "Medal Refrappe Monnaie de Paris Bronze" on Ebay...
Hopefully this is the right forum for this question. I was looking at Ebay, and this item caught my eye for some reason. My French is a little rusty, but I was able to find out that "refrappe" means restrike. Does anyone know if this medal is some souvenier/token/dime store item, or is it truly a medal of a French Mint? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I just seem to like the design, and given the dirt cheap price, I assume that it is a knock-off, rather than something genuine. What do you think?

Probably from this grouping at some point.
More extensive listings I don't see what I was looking at another time, but as I recall some of these are famous medals and have been seen on ebay without noting the more modern strikings.

edited to add: yet another link This is another example of a classic medal, in the new blue box...
I actually own one of the 'new' versions of the Aviation (storks on the reverse) medal which I bought directly from the Paris mint. So if you see anything they have, bid accordingly on ebay, or go directly to the source.
