Baseball Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski Hospitalized in Boston

Just saw this on www.foxnews.com

BOSTON — Baseball Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski was hospitalized for tests Tuesday after experiencing what his spokesman called chest pains.

The spokesman, Dick Gordon, said Yastrzemski went to Massachusetts General Hospital in the morning.

"He had experienced some chest pains and he's in for testing," Gordon said.

When asked if it was serious, Gordon said: "Any time you are in the hospital, it's got to be pretty serious."

The 68-year-old Yastrzemski was baseball's last player to win the Triple Crown in 1967 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.

He was one of my heros growing up too, but man. He's really let himself go after retirement. Just like Kirby Puckett, he's been eating himself to this grave. Definitely hope he gets better.
  • Best wishes and a speedy recover to Yaz.

I have an auto card enroute that I won last Thursday on Ebay.

Strange, first autograph I've ever outright bought.

According to the Boston Globe, Yaz is scheduled for heart bypass surgery due to a blockage in one of his main arteries.

I hope he gets better and it looks like he will .
The best thing that could have happened to him probably is that they were able to catch it and save him , often times there is not anyone around to help you in a situation like that .

That is how I lost my old man , there simply wasn't anyone around to save him , something that will weigh heavily on my heart and mind forever .

I know it sounds strange that I say that this was lucky for him , try not to take it that way though, I'm just saying he is lucky someone was around to help

It's funny to hear someone else pretended to be Yaz when they played Wiffle ball....thought I was the only one. He's my fave Red Sox player from way back when I was young....hope he gets better soon.
Just glad to be here with everyone.
