Canada 2000 Toonie

Riding the bike to the PO to mail something to lordminivan, I notice something on the street. I turned around and picked up a 2000 Loonie.
For the first time, I have used toonies before in Canada, I noticed the reeding isn't continuous on the rim. Anyone know why? There are five breaks in the reeding.

Had I been a little faster, my post above would not look so dumb!

Don,
Was it a Loonie that you found,or was it a Twoonie? A Loonie is a gold-coloured coin, whereas,a Twoonie is a bimetallic coin.
Although I am from New Zealand,I do collect Canadian coins.
Aidan.
