1939 Australian Six pence , Possible Mule?

I'm not sure , I've checked Krause and it appear's that this Six Pence has the obverse of KM#38 and the reverse of KM#25 ? In the book you can see the mintmark (M) in the picture of the reverse for KM#38 clearly beneath "ADVANCE AUSTRALIA" and it is listed in the book as such.

But, when you look at the reverse of KM#25 in Krause, There is no mintmark? Can anyone enlighten me?image Is this considered a Mule

  • The Melbourne mint did not use a mint mark on the '39 sixpence. The Krause coin is a 1942, these were struck in the US at the Denver or Sacramento mint and used a mint mark of S or D.

Not quite correct. The pic of KM# 25 (in my Krause, anyway) is of a 1918 coin, which does have the M mintmark. But, it's in a different place to the WWII US-made issues; it's below the date, rather than above.

The mintmarks (or lack thereof) aren't the difference between KM 25 and 38; the difference is only in the obverse, with the change of monarch.
