Greg Maddux is going up against Jamie Moyer tonight. That's 8655 career innings, 1307 career starts, 593 career wins and 5567 career strikeouts (less than Nolan Ryan's total of 5714) on the mound tonight. Oh yeah, 46 combined years of pitching knowledge doesn't hurt either.
Funny thing is that Maddux and Moyer both came up with the Cubs in 1986. That 1986 Cubs team had:
1. Greg Maddux;
2. Jamie Moyer;
3. Dennis Eckersley;
4. Lee Smith;
5. Rick Sutcliffe;
6. Ryne Sandberg;
7. Rafael Palmeiro; and
8. Shawon Dunston.
and in 1987 the Cubs would add Andrew Dawson. Wow.

it amazes me watching him pitch. and then watch the young pitchers who throw in the 90s struggle.
