Probably a piece of debris in the slab. I have had some come back from PSA with little chips from the slab sealed up inside.

I just sent them back and they removed it for me.

Could be from the inking process too.

only way to know for sure is to ask the owner.

Not a 10 I'd buy, I like my 10's to fit 100% in the holder.

    Good for you.

We had a card come back with a similar piece of debri once and sent it back with a couple subs. PSA picked up the return tab!

Never did ask what it was.

Nice looking Seaver RC except for the slight tilt on the back!

  • Maybe a chip missing from the front of the slab, too, or just an errant piece of fuzz that landed on the scanner that day. I've taken the risk on PSA 10s and BGS 9.5's before where the scans suggested possible printing errors, only to happily discover it was just scanner debris or a scratched slab (easy enough to have reholdered). Of course, I also have a PSA 10 where the back is freakin missing ink!
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

Psoriasis, or the booga is on top of the slab. The back appears too OC for a 10. The seller got lucky imo

not only should they pay for return shipping, but should also at least give you a voucher for your postage expense back to them, they have for me in the past

That top edge does not look good to me when you look at it from the back scan. I wouldn't spend my money on this 10.

  • ahem. a title like yours deserves....i dare say dEmands a response...

clearly the submitter of the card was SO excited that this P.O.S card got a 10 that he could not contain himself!

that is as nice as I have ever seen a Seaver rookie card and deserving of the grade IMHO.

    centering looks 45/45 to me

Not sure if it is a 10 or not, there seems to be a little room in that holder, but then again I have never seen a card in a PSA holder that did not have some type of space.

Actually it looks like a typical diamond cut. While the top edge looks "suspicious" it's not uncommon for the issue and the size looks pretty much spot on. If anything, it's a tad short tob to bottom (as it sits in the holder).

I'm not sure why some are suggesting the back centering is too off to be a PSA 10. Do they understand the grading criteria? I hear way too often about back centering. But back centering is not held to the same standard as front centering. Never has been and never will be!

As far as Roger's question, it's probably a fleck on the slab or on the scanner bed. It appears to have depth and that would suggest that it's not part of the card or an inking or paper-loss issue.

I have no problem with the card. Certainly not all vintage 10's might be created equal, but this is bottomline a superb card I'd love to have. image

The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.

imo, the card falls within this tolerance on the reverse. nice card and i agree that it's probably something on the slab or scanner itself and not the card.

    Thanks,
