The first is a British sovereign, London Mint. This date was officially restruck in the late 40's-early 50's. 22k fineness, .2354 oz of gold The second is a Canadian Olympic Games commemorative. .583 fineness, .25 oz
As to my opinion?
I really like the look of the sovereign; maybe not as a technical 64, but it's definitely a nice 63 IMO.
The canadian coin has a quarter ounce of 14k gold though. About an eight of an ounce of pure gold. And I suspect they sell at a discount because demand for such a weak gold purity in coin form at least is pretty low. The gold equivalent to 40% silver kennedy halves.

I believe the Canadian coin has .2500 oz Actual Gold Weight. At least that is what Krause says. Interesting, the proof version is .9170 fine gold and has .5002 AGW.
